project overview: a new organized & styled closet

In this project overview, we’ll share some photos and tips from a newly designed closet project where style was just as important as function.

We had the opportunity to work in a closet newly designed & installed by one of our favorite local businesses, Closet Design Twins. This closet had beautiful details not only in the shelving system, but also in the surrounding space - have you ever seen wallpaper this fun in a closet?

Maximizing Space with Matching Hangers

Don’t underestimate the power of using matching hangers. Not only does it create a cohesive look, but also maximizes closet space. Since this client had a fairly minimal wardrobe overall, we were able to space out the hangers more generously, really providing that overall boutique feel.

Elevating Footwear Storage

Shoes are often the focal point of any closet, and we wanted her footwear to shine. Everyday shoes were placed on the open shelving, allowing our client to easily see and access each pair. Boots and seasonal footwear, on the other hand, were neatly boxed up and stored under the island in the center of the closet, freeing up valuable shelf space while keeping those shoes protected.

Showcasing Accessories

The cherry on top to a boutique-style closet is having the space to display those pieces that bring you joy (as Marie Kondo would say!) The glass doors on the closet shelves created a perfect space for accessory displays, and we prioritized the space next to our client’s shoe shelves for the easy access. She was left with room to grow on upper shelves with plenty of space for future treasures.

Purposeful Drawer Dividers

Drawers are essential for keeping smaller items organized, but they can quickly become chaotic without proper division. We created separation within drawers using Dream drawer dividers. These dividers allowed us to keep items like undergarments, socks, and athletic clothing neatly file folded, while leaving room for future additions.
